WHY STUDY UNITED STATES HISTORY ANYWAYS?
We as Americans, young and old, cannot completely appreciate the current
freedoms and opportunities that are available to us until we fully comprehend what past
Americans have truly endured and sacrificed.

In 8th grade U.S. history, we will examine early colonization, breaking away from
Great Britain, the creation and evolution of our government, westward expansion, the institution
of slavery, the war between the states and reconstruction.
