The purpose of homework is to practice and prepare for other assignments. Homework is often a review of material that has recently been covered in class. It is designed to help students determine what they have learned and what they still need help understanding.
Homework is not a punishment but an opportunity to develop a knowledge base for other work. Most teachers require students to do homework and scores are figured into the final grade. In Mrs. Bodeker’s science classes, the homework comprises ten percent of the overall average of a student. While homework is not assigned daily, students who want to do well need to be reviewing and studying their notes on nights homework is not required.
After homework is graded, students should review the questions and answers, make necessary corrections, and continue to study the assignments to prepare for tests and projects.
